Back In Time With The Frasers is one such event organized and hosted by fellow Outlander fan Victoria. Her creativity and attention to detail made this event quite incredible. Victoria went above-and-beyond hand-making many gifts and centerpieces – all without a committee!
It was a beautiful day for a hike! After all the rain in San Diego, the sun finally came out and so did we. Seven families gathered on January 29, 2017 to hike a nearby trail known as Rock House. As you have read from our earlier My Peak Challenge blogs, our interest in getting fit, spending time in nature, and bonding with friends and family have become important pastimes. Although most people on this hike are not Outlander fanatics like us, Sass3, the goal was still the same: exercise and spend time with loved ones. Presidents’ Day is an American holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February. As we observe this holiday, Sass3 wanted to take a step back in time to remember the story of how this holiday began and, of course, find our link back to Outlander. This blog will be filled with history and fun facts. Come take a look and test your knowledge of our American history and Outlander! We fell in love with James “Jamie” Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser of Outlander. If you don’t know this character, you are missing out. He is Scottish, first of all! He’s strong, honorable, and King of all Men. Most importantly, Jamie Fraser is romantically in love with Claire, the tough, but femine, and vivacious Outlander heroine! For Valentine’s Day, we thought we would post our favorite romantic Jamie passages from the Outlander book series by Diana Gabaldon. Here they are:
I wonder if Claire ever threw Brianna a Sweet 16 party in the “unknown years” of Outlander between books one and two. Perhaps Brianna celebrated her kids’ birthdays with parties too. Well, having thrown a huge celebration for my own daughter recently, I wondered how these parties would have been decorated. Today’s blog is all about affordable party decor. Although most of the decorations in today’s blog are for a Sweet 16 party, they can really be used for any type of event – Quinceanera, bridal shower, retirement party, 50th birthday, other milestone celebrations, and even an Outlander gathering. “America,” I said softly. “The New World.” The pulse beneath my fingers had quickened, echoing my own. A new world. Refuge. Freedom.
Voyager by Diana Gabaldon, Chapter 63
History – it’s all around us. While in school we may not have fully appreciated it, but, as adults, we can see the importance of it, and even come to enjoy it.
An unexpected visit to Britex Fabrics in the heart of San Franciso led me to purchase some of my favorite materials for this next DIY project. Britex Fabrics originally opened its doors in 1952 and has since been considered one of the best locations for designers and anyone else seeking “creative inspiration.” You are sure to find exactly what you are looking for, especially with four complete floors filled with an immense variety of fabrics and accessories.
Come take a look at our next DIY project. We also included a tutorial video at the end of this blog to highlight todays Outlander inspired wrap.
Sass3 has always felt that Outlander is more than just a book or television series. This epic love story resonates within our soul, always leaving us with a desire for more. We love that it has led to new friendships, adventures, and, most of all, the shared dream of traveling to Jamie’s Scottish Highlands.
