Keeping fit is a goal so many of us have. When you combine Sam Heughan’s My Peak Challenge (MPC) with The Peak Posse SoCal friends, it is just down-right delightful – not to mention fun!

Some members of The Peak Posse SoCal (a division of The Peak Posse which is world-wide) gathered together for a 5K and brunch event in Southern California. Of course, Sass3 joined in on the opportunity to participate.

The Raffle

The event presented a raffle. Before the 5K began, we had the chance to look over raffle prizes that were set up.  There were mostly Outlander or Scottish related items, but there were also a wee bit of exercise objects. One of the members is running in the Edinburgh Marathon with funds going to Sam’s charity, Bloodwise. A portion of the donations from the 5K event will go to her fundraising efforts, and a separate amount will be sent to Bloodwise in The Peak Posse SoCal’s name. Here are the raffle prizes:

Outlander bag with Season1 box set; Outlander Kitchen cookbook with dish towels and tartan baker; bee-themed crate; Outlander cookie cutters, mug and wine charms with Scotland cards; Sassenach window sickers
Two Jamies drawstring backpack; The Peak Posse SoCal straw cups; Outlander magazines; It’s Corn Grinding Time tee shirt; Two Jamies tee shirt; exercise head band and hand weights; Moscow mule set; Highlands sticker; Craig na Dun necklace; etched bar glasses; Outlander magnets
Scottie dog doorstop; signed Outlander book; Dior book and bracelet from FIDM; plaid purse and candles; Lallybroch painting; hedgehog-themed basket with dish towel, note cards, and planter; more etched bar glasses; many mini pocket Sam cut-outs

The 5K

The 5K course was rather simple and fairly flat.  As we walked we enjoyed the homes and yards lining the street. They were all distinctive and beautiful. Each lot had its own unique design and landscaping.

At an intersection, we were able to cross to the center median to parade down Ye Bridle Path. We followed that dirt passage for a bit and then returned back the way we came.

The Brunch

Upon our arrival back to the event venue, the hostess donned us with our very own 5K medals!

We finalized our raffle ticket placements, toasted with mimosas, and enjoyed each others company while brunching.  The menu featured scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, carnitas, lox, bagels, donuts, muffins, fruit, and yogurt.

Besides mimosas, there was juice and the mixings to make pickle backs and Moscow mules.

Outlander fans come together for many reasons like discussing the books, Diana Gabaldon, the TV show, or the  actors. We also support one another in events – whether it be social, physical, mental, or what-have-you. This is what the Outlander community has become all about. The encouragement is bonding and so very appreciated.  We just love this group!
