This time of year is full of activity – shopping, Black Friday deals, Cyber Monday mayhem, cooking, and baking. It’s an extremely busy holiday with very little downtime, and we know you can relate. However, as Thanksgiving approaches, we ponder upon things for which we are grateful: family, friendship, our passion, and our health. Our year has been fortunate so, in today’s blog, Sass3 would like to express gratitude for all that we have accomplished, especially through Outlander!
SEASON 3 IS HERE! Droughtlander is over…finally. New episodes of Outlander, based on Diana Gabaldon’s third novel, Voyager, have begun, and we cannot stop raving about the most recent installment!
We, Sass3, want to share our reactions to the premiere episode, “The Battle Joined,” directed by Brendan Maher and written by Ronald D. Moore, which aired on STARZ on September 10, 2017.
BE WARNED: SPOILERS ARE THROUGH-OUT THIS ARTICLE! If you have not seen the premiere episode of Season 3, read on at your own risk.
We have loved watching the trailers for Season 3, not to mention the heart stopping images from the Entertainment Weekly cover shoot. This is a pure sign that Outlander is definitely back! If you have a wee addiction for anything Outlander, we can imagine your responses. The glimpses into the next season may have ignited a wealth of emotions – more likely it reinforced your addiction to all that Outlander holds true. The reflection of history, journeys of hope and faith, impact of war, examination of morality, suspense, test of character, voyages into the unknown, bonds of families, honor, and love. The absolute truth is that you are left wanting more! From our perspective, we were entranced and completely absorbed by the imagery of Season 3. Starz has done one thing completely correct, the adaptation of Outlander is and will always be OBSESSABLE.
Only seven more days until the season premiere! As we get closer to September 10th, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to discuss our newly cemented addiction to this series, our desire to send a sincere thank you to the entire cast and crew, and reflect on our favorite moments of Droughtlander.
One of the most anticipated scenes in Outlander, Season 3 is Claire’s return to the 18th century and finding Jamie. Fans were quite pleased, and a wee bit excited, when it was announced that the Starz booth at San Diego Comic-Con would be a recreation of the set of The Print Shop, where said reunion takes place.
Here, we give our readers a quick glance at A. Malcolm Printer and Bookseller’s shop.
As professionals with families, we joined this new adventure of writing about our enthusiasm for Outlander to not only illustrate our own journeys, but also for those whose lives have been transformed by this dynamic series. Spreading positivity throughout this fandom is important to us. We enjoy sharing our endearment for the adventures we take, the experiences with other like-minded fans, and, most importantly, the connections we have developed with others across the globe. Neither one of us could have predicted the remarkable path we found ourselves following, as we express our enthusiasm for all things Outlander. Needless to say, we are enjoying every moment!
Today marks the official day before San Diego Comic-Con! We were fortunate to have attended Emerald City Comicon earlier this year where we successfully attended panels and met the admirable Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe. We are ecstatic that the Outlander cast will be coming to our city to mark the return of the series. We are proud to be badge holders and are seasoned enough to know the importance of developing strategies to successfully navigate between events being held throughout our glorious city of San Diego. Are we excited? Yes, just a little!
We can already anticipate waiting in the endless lines and making our way through a sea of crowds that encompass every aspect of this event – from anime to comics, movies to television, and beyond. Watching the highly anticipated panels and getting within proximity of actors and artists we admire will be our ultimate goal. We have each agreed to make the preparations necessary, as all invested fans do, to make our experience the best it can be given the wealth of fandoms that will be attending. We have talked about how to prepare for this convention, which we have undoubtedly taken to heart. In this blog we will explore the 5 things we look forward to experiencing as our adventures B-E-G-I-N!
It’s every Outlander book fan’s dream to meet Herself, Diana Gabaldon; however, it’s paramount when you come face to face, let alone interact, with the stars who play your all-time favorite characters. One lucky lass to do just that is our fellow Outlander sister, Brenda, who experienced this at a VIP event at Seattle’s Emerald City Comicon. I met with Brenda for coffee as she contenly shared her adventure. I was more than happy to not only catch up with my friend, but also to hear about her epic journey. In today’s blog, we’ll hear about this Sassenach’s escapade meeting the infamous Jamie and Claire.
Outlander: A Place to Find Refuge During Life’s Most Unexpected Moments
Have you ever been faced with a difficult life moment and without conscious knowledge or thought turned to the Outlander series as a place of refuge? Not under the best circumstances, but I found that this happened to me while sitting at the Ophthalmology office waiting for the physician to look at my son’s newly stitched, three-inch eye-lid laceration. The depth of the laceration unfortunately led to the exposure of the lacrimal gland, causing additional complications. An unforeseen accident, we were faced with surgeons and a series of doctor appointments that were not only stressful, but also terrifying in the process. I have often heard many fans describe the Outlander series as place to find sanctuary or comfort when faced with difficult life events. Here I was sitting in the doctor’s office, having the same experience that I have often heard from many other fans. Continue reading Keep Calm and Love Bees: A Personal Link Back to Outlander
Seattle. Many people first envision rain when I tell them where I spent most of my life. However, when I think of Seattle, I am immediately reminded of the art, culture, ingenuity of novel businesses, friendly local people, and, of course, the stunning natural scenery that can be found in this magnificent city I so proudly refer to as my home. It is a city that is surrounded by water and mountains, which completely validates the nickname the Emerald City. I return as often as I can to visit with friends I have loved since Kindergarten, travel the steps I used to take during my time in college and graduate school, but, most of all, return to the treasured locations that remind me of my childhood. These special places are often shared with my children. However, this time I had a unique opportunity to return home to Seattle with my fellow bloggers to attend Emerald City Comicon.
ECCC, Emerald City Comicon, was held the weekend of March 2-6 in Seattle, Washington. Sass3 was fortunate enough to attend. Once we discovered Caitriona and Sam would be in attendance, we quickly acted on the opportunity to buy tickets for this comicon. We then seized the moment to purchase the single and group photos to make our dreams come true to meet them!
