At Timeless Sass3nach Journeys, we embrace the sisterhood that accompanies this fabulous novel, Outlander, and when the three of us reflect upon our friendship, it still surprises us how close we have become. The connection to the book series has produced sparks that ignite long lasting relations. We have never experienced anything like it: women celebrating one another, honoring our cherished female roles as wives and mothers, and embracing our own power. We definitely identify with Diana Gabaldon’s character Claire Fraser (strong-willed, compassionate, feisty, and a relentless supporter of loved ones) and undeniably hold her essence within our hearts. The three of us are family and certainly feel fortunate to have such a long-lasting bond with one another.
Through Outlander, we continue to recognize the camaraderie developed. It’s a natural thing to reflect upon our blessings, especially during this holiday season. We are lucky to live in sunny San Diego and to be surrounded by others who love Diana Gabaldon and the show. So in today’s blog, we share our celebration of friendship through San Diego’s Holiday Gift and Ornament Exchange Party. It has become an annual event, making it the group’s 3rd one.

As Outlander fans, you can imagine the lengths we go through to keep ourselves busy until the next season, Voyager. Pastimes like rereading the series for the 5th time, listening to Bear McCreary’s Outlander CDs for the 10th time, and rewatching the series – oh, lets say the gazillionth time – is not new to any Outlander devotee! It’s a regular occurrence, to say the least. However, one of the most rewarding Outlander hobbies is assembling with other like-minded fans; this, we absolutely look forward to. We gather and can genuinely be ourselves – not worrying about (as we do with our friends who haven’t found the glory of “Diana Gabaldon’s word”) whether or not we sound strange with our constant Outlandish talk. We are always right at home with our clan! Continue reading Voyager Themed Painting with Outlander Friends, The Perfect Droughtlander Activity!
Outlander fans gather and unite quite often. Sass3 belong to a very active group, Outlander SoCal Edition, in which many members create and host events.
Back In Time With The Frasers is one such event organized and hosted by fellow Outlander fan Victoria. Her creativity and attention to detail made this event quite incredible. Victoria went above-and-beyond hand-making many gifts and centerpieces – all without a committee!

Outlander involves time travel…and whisky. With Whisky Galore one can time travel back to a time when the war-rationed whisky supply on a small island was depleted in the early 1940s and a ship containing thousands of bottles of whisky crashed off the coast.
The St. Andrew’s Society of Los Angeles hosted the U.S. premiere of the modern remake of Whisky Galore at the Writers Guild Theater. The original movie, released in 1949, was based on the 1947 novel by Compton Mackenzie. The novel was based on the real-life events on the island of Eriskay where off the the coast the SS Politician sunk. The residents of the island seized the ship-wrecked treasure of “The Water of Life.”
